Microsoft has launched its own video app in partnership in with Netflix, it has announced.
The app, titled Xbox Live, has been in development for a while, and the Xbox 360 version will launch with the release of the console.
Microsoft has announced the app will be available on Xbox Live in the US, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Germany, Italy and Spain, as well as on the Xbox Marketplace in those countries.
Xbox Live will be integrated into Microsoft’s Xbox app on Xbox One and Xbox 360, the company said in a statement.
“With the launch of Xbox Live on Xbox, we’re opening a world of entertainment, gaming, and social experiences to fans across all of our platforms,” said Phil Spencer, chief executive of Xbox.
“This is a major step towards connecting our fans with our amazing content creators across all our platforms.”
“We want to give fans the opportunity to share their stories and make connections across our rich catalog of entertainment,” he added.
“Xbox Live is going to be the first app to give gamers the ability to create a personalized online presence that’s accessible and personalized to fans on Xbox and Windows 10.”
Microsoft is currently the world’s largest online video service, with over 150 million videos uploaded to the service.
